Madacsi Studios collaborated with Houston-based IDEA Art Consultants on a project for the new Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital in Cypress, Texas. This project offered me the opportunity to create artwork a dining room area within the hospital, adding a sense of beauty and inspiration to the space.
The process began with IDEA pitching design concepts based on my work. Once the client approved the final concept, I embarked on designing a 12’L x 3’H wall panel. This artwork, installed in a recessed dining space, was created from my hand forged steel medallions, each uniquely textured under a power hammer. The handmade quality of every piece ensures that the artwork is as dynamic as it is personal.
Healing Arts: A Bridge Between Design and Well-being
The project embodies the NOAH (National Organization for Arts in Health) principles of the healing arts. The flowing shapes and curves in the designs are intended to foster a calming and uplifting environment, connecting to the innate human need for beauty and inspiration in spaces of healing.
The artwork, with its wave-like motion, reflects a sense of weightlessness and airy movement, encouraging a positive and restorative atmosphere for both patients and visitors. Thereby, offering a dynamic and engaging aesthetic that complements the hospital's focus on wellness and recovery.

Local Inspiration: Cypress Creek
As part of the creative process, I researched the local area to draw inspiration for the final design. The work is based on Cypress Creek, a stream that originates in Waller County and flows into Spring Creek in Harris County before eventually reaching the Gulf of Mexico. This natural waterway is a vital part of the Cypress Creek watershed, and its fluid, organic movement inspired the flowing shapes and wave-like motion in the dining area artwork. The connection to Cypress Creek reflects the beauty of the local landscape and creates an authentic link between the space and its community.
Collaboration: The Heart of Creativity
I truly value the collaborative process between my studio and my clients. Effective communication with IDEA Art Consultants was key to understanding the spatial, emotional, and functional needs of the project. By working closely together, we were able to achieve a design that seamlessly integrates with the space while embodying the hospital's mission of care and healing.
